It’s March Mango time! I’m crazy about this fruit; its colors reminiscent of a Florida Keys sunset, and sweet flesh, sticky as a warm sunny day. This winter’s abundance of blossoms herald a banner harvest. “Mangoes” was created through the use of scanography, a photographic technique, where items are laid on a flatbed scanner, to capture an image. In this case, tree ripened fruit from the garden were arranged against a neutral ground. The abstract background, which surrounds and overlays the edges, was brushed in with Photoshop. “Mangoes” was selected for inclusion in the 2019 Culture publication by the Florida Keys Council of the Arts, and now the 60” x 40” original work on plexi is on view in the showroom window at Island Interiors at Ocean Reef.
Marci Larson, ASID has not only added a background for “Mangoes”; with her designer talents, she’s kicked it up a notch. “Mangoes” will be on display through March.
